A wonderfully decorative vintage oil painting, depicting a tranquil wooded landscape with water, mature trees and richly worked autumnal foliage, dating to around the 1970's

Painted in a traditional landscape style, the composition draws the eye from the rocky foreground through still water towards a softer, more distant stretch of woodland. Warm ochres, mossy greens and muted browns dominate the palette, with areas of thicker paint adding texture through the trees, foliage and rocks

The painting is housed in an ornate gilt-effect frame with scrolling foliate decoration, dark antiqued detailing and a beaded inner border. The frame gives the small-scale painting a surprisingly substantial presence and works particularly well with the autumnal tones of the landscape.

A lovely original oil for a gallery wall, hallway, study or smaller space where a traditional landscape adds warmth and character.
