Description
A wonderfully decorative vintage wall mirror dating from around the 1950s–1970s, featuring an intricately embossed brass-toned metal frame inspired by earlier Arts & Crafts and Celtic Revival designs.
The broad rectangular frame is decorated throughout with repeating stylised flowers, scrolling heart-shaped motifs and interlaced geometric ornament. Raised polished areas contrast beautifully against the darker recessed decoration, giving the frame considerable depth and character.
At the centre is a bevelled rectangular mirror plate, an attractive detail which gives the piece a particularly finished appearance.
The metal has developed a warm aged patina with darker areas throughout the recessed decoration. It is an unusual and highly decorative mirror which would work particularly well in an eclectic, traditional or maximalist interior.
