Description

A charming antique tilt-top occasional table dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, featuring a decorative square top with parquetry and geometric inlay, raised on a turned pedestal with a shaped tripod base.

This is an especially attractive example, with a top that is far more decorative than the usual plain wine or lamp table. The square top is formed with contrasting bands of timber framing a geometric inlaid centre, giving the piece plenty of visual interest while still keeping a traditional and elegant look.

The tilt-top action is a lovely practical feature and makes it a classic occasional table of the period. When not in use, the top can be tilted upright, making it easier to place against a wall or use as a decorative accent piece.

The table stands on a turned baluster column with three shaped legs, giving it a light and elegant profile. It would work beautifully as a lamp table, occasional table, hallway table or decorative side table.

A very useful and decorative antique piece with good colour and appealing period character.
