Description
A very elegant 1940's console table in the Regency Revival style, combining a beautifully shaped fixed top with a particularly decorative pedestal base.
The mahogany-toned top has softly rounded ends and a gently shaped outline, giving the table a refined profile without feeling overly formal. The surface shows an attractive variation of colour and grain and sits above a substantial central pedestal.
The base is where this piece really comes into its own. The turned pedestal features carved leaf decoration, continuing down onto four sweeping legs with further carved detailing. Each leg finishes with a metal paw-style toe cap, adding a distinctly Regency-inspired flourish.
Its slim proportions make it particularly useful in a hallway, living room or dining room. It would work well beneath a mirror or artwork, dressed with a pair of lamps, or simply used as an elegant occasional surface.
A versatile vintage piece with a warm traditional finish and enough detail to make it a feature without overwhelming a room.
