Description
A beautifully cohesive set of three original oil paintings by Australian landscape artist Olga C. Garner, now known as Olga Garner-Morris, depicting three of Tasmania's most distinctive landscapes.
Dating from approximately the mid-to-late 1980s, the group comprises:
In the Shadow, Mt Roland – Tasmania
Cradle Mt, North West Tasmania
Wineglass Bay – Tasmania
Each work is signed Olga Garner lower left and retains an extensive original artist biography to the reverse together with its handwritten title and location.
Garner is an established Australian painter whose career has included exhibitions in Australia, Britain, Europe and the United States. She became particularly known for her Australian landscapes, and the three works offered here capture the dramatic scale and shifting light of the Tasmanian landscape particularly well.
Although unified by subject and palette, each painting has its own character: the sunlit ridge of Mt Roland above open grazing land; the dark wooded slopes and still waters below Cradle Mountain; and the sweeping elevated view across Wineglass Bay.
The paintings are presented in their original matching grey and gilt-toned frames, creating a particularly effective group when hung together.
An unusually complete little collection of three original works by a recognised Australian landscape painter, with the artist's original biographical material remaining attached to each reverse.
